Hi Marna. Thank you for your kind words. When Lacie was on the circuit, she was at home with me most of the time and we traveled to shows where I handed her off to her breeder, my mentor and dear friend. She only wore wraps during the short periods of time when she stayed with her breeder/handler for shows I couldn't make. When at home her floor length hair was down and she was allowed to be a "dog" playing outside and making trips to the barn to chase the barn cats and roll in the hay. I retired Lacie as soon as she championed as we both disliked the show life. When I finally had the courage to her cut down for the first time her hair dragged the ground by several inches, a little over a year later it was dragging the floor again.
Since we lived in the south with fairly mild winters no coats were necessary, however she has always slept under the covers.
I believe that the biggest factors in the being able to grow and maintain the long luxurious coat are genetics and good nutrition plus using good quality grooming products.
