That's my understanding, too. The chemical in the Seresto collar is time-released and protection is based on continual skin contact with the dog. It comes off only when we take him to the groomer and is put right back on afterwards.
We used Revolution from the start (Fabian was only a couple of pounds when we brought him home, although much larger now.) My vet said it's not overkill to use the two products together ***on my particular dog***, especially up here in tick country.
