My vet advised Simparica as a monthly treatment. I have been using it on my kid for 5 years my pup has had no reactions from it and no fleas or ticks.

What you need right now is Comfortis, it's a chewable pill it starts killing fleas and eggs within 30 minutes. You can get it only from a veterinarian.

I have used this several times with my now passed girl when she became infested with fleas in mid winter due to stray cats living under my deck which was my girls hunting grounds.
Pennsylvania is also one of the high states for Lyme disease, here in the Pocono it's a core vaccine, you may want to check with your vet about getting the Lyme vaccine.
