I don't know if it's different for boys and girls, but after Mike got neutered for the first two days I put peepads everywhere in the apartment just like when he was a puppy. He was a bit groggy and napped all day and when we woke up he'd pee on the closest pad he saw. After a few days I took the pads away and he went back to his normal potty trained self.
