I am by no means ashamed by my Biewer, or try to diminish the fact that he is a Biewer. However, when short on time I need a quick answer. If I have the time educate someone on this new breed, then I take the time to do so. I tell them how they were "Foundation Stock" when I first signed up for JakJak, while the AKC considered Biewers for the registry; I share the history of the Biewer family; and why Biewers are so special to me. The puppy book that came with JakJak was so well prepared.
However, most of the time when I get asked I am out and about training JakJak. (he's developed a fear of dogs, and getting him comfortable with everything is my #1 priority) When we're training, I need to focus on him, but I also don't want to be rude. If you do Google "German" and "yorkie" the first result is Biewer Terrier. People are more likely to remember German yorkie anyway, so it's a win-win for those we encounter that would like to learn about the breed. That's how I learned about Biewers many, many years ago by referring to them as "German yorkie" until the name of the breed finally stuck. The only thing I refuse to answer is "How much was he?" cause it's no one's business but my own. Besides, he's priceless!!! | I totally get it. For Callie it was always a back in forth of she’s a yorkie yes she is a bigger yorkie so I always just answer the first time with she is a bigger yorkie or like with Joey it’s hes a yorkie with a full tail and with Ollie it’s always he’s a chocolate yorkie it just kinda simplifies it. My mother is the only one who knows what I payed for all of mine. I refuse to tell my father because he is unrealistic and from a time where you got the free puppy from down the street type thing. He tells me that even though Penny was 8 months when I got her dirty, bad Uti, unspayed and starving that she wasn’t a rescue because I paid for her. I’m just like whatever. I love all my babies an no matter what they cost like you said they are priceless.
