Mike was a chubby puppy and out vet told me I was giving him almost twice more food than needed. We went from 90 grams to 50 grams of kibble slowly by cutting 5-10% of food at a time and giving him frozen beans, peas and carrots as treats. Those are quite filling for the stomach and low on calories. He lost around a pound and has a stable weight since. So now he gets around 50 grams of kibble which is around 200 kcal + treats. To me it seems like very little amount of food, but his weight is stable and that is a good indicator that he gets the necessary calories as I understand.
