Homecooking, raw, kibble? Help! I know I have posted a number of times related to food questions. The problem is my baby has issues with a lot of food and I’m trying to find an alternative that works best for both of us. She can’t have any poultry, and she seems to also become itchier than normal on fish, so trying to avoid both and it’s so hard in kibble. She’s been on canine caviar lamb which I top with either freeze dried raw or cooked ground lamb which has been okay for past 8 months. But now she’s been skipping several meals and doesn’t like the kibble. I also am not a fan of trying to keep her on such a limited Ingredient Diet as I don’t know it’s the best diva long term. So I’ve been researching other kibble options that are chicken, fish and legume free in light if the FDA investigation. It’s next to impossible and few options which she likes such as Farmina and Nature’s Logic have chicken fat and that seems to be making her itchier as well. I’ve even considered Purina Pro Plan but all of their products including the lamb and rice sensitive have poultry products in it. So now I’m debating home cooking but worried about balancing it with proper nutrients over time. I’m aware of BalanceIt as a resource. I tried Primal frozen raw for 2 weeks and she kept having hunger pukes in the afternoon and was starving despite me increasing dosage. Now I’m debating going back to raw but trying a different brand such as Stella & Chewy and maybe freeze dried instead of frozen but I’m afraid of high fat content. Lilly is only 5.5 Lbs and very petite. Anyway, bt kibble or homecooking or raw in light of my issues I’d appreciate recommendations or comments. I just want her to be eating regularly and be healthy. Thank you. |
