You are entirely right about people who show, it does not make them an automatic reputable or ethical breeder. I have been around show breeders (good and bad) for sometime. And some of them I respect and some I don't.
If a breeder does not show, it does not make them a bad breeder.
My short breakdown is... If someone wants to breed they need to educate themselves continuosly and care about what they are producing and be responsible for all dogs/puppies in their care. Do their best to screen for health issues in their breed and screen the homes they place them.
