Thank you for your opinion ladyjane, but the puppies were never dehydrated. I kept an eye on them constantly. I gave them water every hour and took them for a walk to make sure that they were alert. I have had 7 to 10 dogs for the past 15 years with this same vet. He knows me, I know them all. He trusts me to bring them in immediately if necessary.
Five days is a long time to give constant care to a sick pup. If I had to work or be away from them at all, I would certainly leave them at the vet.
