Ticks are like cockroaches: they're seemingly impervious to everything. We find ticks in Jan/Feb in NH when it's below zero, alive and attached to dead leaves. I use both Revolution (year around) and a Seresto collar (March til it runs out) upon my vet's advice after Fabian got ticks with just the Revolution. (The Revolution controls American dog ticks, but not deer ticks.)

The reason you have to leave the collar on is that it's slowly activated over time by skin contact. So no contact, no protection. I'm generally a"no collar" gal, but here, the benefit outweighs the risk.
