I agree with Lovetodeam, licking, chewing paws usually is a sign of allergies, giving Benadryl has no affects if it's allergy related.

Cody has allergies, I bathe him with Douxo Calm shampoo purchased at chewy. You have to leave it on for 10 minutes, I am telling you, this shampoo is a miracle worker. Cody gets Cytopoint shots every 4 to 6 weeks depending on how much he is scratching. Apoquel is a pill given daily. Both Cytopoint and Apoquel can only be gotten through your vet. Several months ago Cody was scratching so much he was losing hair, I bathed him with the Douxo Clam shampoo which I had just gotten, the scratching stopped right after bathing him, the next day I took him in for his Cytopoint shot, no scratching, licking or chewing paws since March.
