Royal Canine GI Low Fat Diet? Need advice. Hello Everyone,
A little background. I am very new to the yorkie breed, so please bare with me. My male yorkie is 6mos old. We received him when he was 4months. In those two months we have had him, he has been to the vet twice - tests and all looked good, but he was having some major diarrhea. Each time we took him to the vet was because the diarrhea was so bad it would have blood in it. Each time the vet gave him a shot of antibiotics but the 2nd visit, he put him on Royal Canine GI low fat wet/diet. I noticed within a day a huge improvement in his bowels. By the end of the first week, he was no longer having accidents in the house, and was having solid poops which of course made me jump for joy LOL. Who would have thought we would be happy with our dog's poop. haha. Anyway, he has been on royal canine LF for about two weeks now and is doing REALLy well and I have also put some Science Diet Yorkie kibble scrambled in his bowls. He loves his food and is actually eating again. Because he is doing so well on it, i am afraid to take him off or to even transition to a new food. Is this diet ok to be on long term? Should I be giving him supplements? We Thank you for any advice given! |
