I agree Brit, it is terrible that Hills could allow this to happen. Many of our pets depend on these special foods and expect excellent quality control. I had thought of changing over to another prescription food, but fear my dog might not like it. And the same mess could happen with that food if this is the way dog food manufacturers behave.
My dog has been well for several years after a bout of Pancreatitis on the Hills Prescription, and although I do not care for the ingredients I kept him on it as he was doing so well.. so I guess I will stay with it and pray that Hills do a better job in the future. What also bothered me was the fact that they waited for many dog owner complaints before the recall, they did not find the excess D by their quality control system. They just depended on the supplier to get it right!
