Try putting his food in a flat dish, like a saucer. A lot of dogs will not eat from a bowl. I had one that would only eat from a saucer while her sisters ate out of bowls. You can also try sprinkling a little Parmesan cheese over his food, most dogs love Parmesan cheese and will eat what ever it's on.
