Default Congenital Heart Defect

My Yorkie, Newman, is seven years old and has been in excellent health. I took him to the veterinarian because he was doing a honking/coughing noise a lot when he got really excited. The veterinarian x-rayed him to check his trachea and heart. She found that his heart is slightly enlarged and he has a mild heart murmur. She had me bring him back six week later for another x-ray of his heart. It has not changed in size. I go back in three months for another x-ray as long as everything stays the same. She seems to think that it is a congenital heart defect and that he will eventually have to go on medication. I wondered if anyone else has been through this.
