We have a gated backyard and I also worry about Kiki. I have owned Rotts before getting Kiki and the Rotts seemed to get sick and have things happen to them more then Kiki. Kiki is my little trooper. He is a lot tougher then I imagined. I do understand how you all feel, because they are so small and there are a lot of dangers out there.
