We have just finally got him to not bark and cry when we put him in the crate when we leave by using calming spray, a Kong and putting a blanket over the crate.

I have to go out of town on Monday for work for a couple of days and have someone coming to watch him (a former vet tech). I am curious to see if he continues the behavior with her. If it is marking, then I am going to ask the vet when is the soonest he can neuter.
I thought I would jump on and follow up just in case someone else ever came across these issues. I am happy to say that Rio is no longer excessively urinating. I believe it was related to his GI issues. We have now successfully healed him with a bland diet, anti-diarrhea medicine and time. He is now urinating normally. It was just such a strange behavior for him especially with the bet ruling out any UTI or bladder infection.
