Because even giveing it and not missing it there is a small chance the meds could fail. If they do fail giving the medicine could kill your dog because it would kill the worms to fast and they would shoot through the heart causing a blockage. Since all dogs should have yearly blood work to make sure everything is normal and there is no changes from the year before and for it to be a normal base line to compair it to if they get sick and do blood work it’s just a simple add on test.
