Excessive Urination 17 Week Old Puppy Hi All,
Thank you to anyone who can assist! Apologies in advance as this message is really long. I have a 17 week old puppy that I would like some assistance with. To start, there are two issues going on that could or could not be related.
To begin, I took my puppy in to the vet on Monday thinking he might have a UTI or other bladder issue as he was peeing small pees all over the floor as well as his pee pad. I was finding little small puddles everywhere as well as little drops. He would use the pee pad and would attempt to urinate and only a drop would come out, but he did not seem to be in pain. He was also not wanting to eat his food and was having gas. I took in a urine sample from the morning and they sent it off for testing. Overnight my dog vomited bile and urinated in our bed, which he has never done over the two months we have had him. The next morning (Tuesday) he was very lethargic and not wanting to play or be active at all. I called the vet and he confirmed that the urinalysis did not indicate a UTI. I took him in to the vet again that afternoon and the Dr. prescribed some medicine for his stomach (Pepcid) and asked that I start him on a bland diet. The next day (Wednesday) he seemed to do better and was more playful. He had gas all night and all day. I fed him the rice and chicken mixture in the morning, afternoon and evening.
Overnight he had diarrhea and he again urinated in my bed. The next morning (Thursday) he vomited his evening meal undigested and his diarrhea had a little blood. My vet was on vacation the next day but had a replacement. I was happy to get a 2nd opinion. This Dr. decided to do a x-ray to rule out any issues that might be going on. The x-ray turned up nothing. The consensus seemed to be that he was having some GI issues from consuming something. She put him on some medicine for the diarrhea and to keep feeding him the bland diet. I feel somewhat confident that the GI issue is resolving itself.
My issue now is that he has continued the excessive urination through this week and today it again was very very excessive. It seemed like he was urinating every 10 minutes or less (not exaggerating). For the bigger normal urination, he was using the pee pad as well as some of the smaller ones. So he knows what the pee pad is for. But he probably urinated small drops 20 times or more throughout the day. It seems as if he is not having control over his bladder and dribbles pee everywhere. I do not believe this to be marking behavior although I could be wrong.
Apologies for the long message but I wanted to be as thorough as possible. Has anyone had any issues with excessive urination such as this with or without a GI issue?
Not sure if I should get a 3rd opinion as I never really received a answer on why he was urinating so much as they were more concerned with the GI issue.
Thank you for ANY help!!
