Default Liver Shunt or High/Low Blood Sugar - Anyone have similar issues?

Hi Everyone,

We have a 4 year old Yorkie. Over the past two years he's started displaying, albeit very infrequent, functional motor issues. We went to the vet today, as we have in the past, and today they advised from watching the videos that it's either a blood sugar issue or a Liver Shunt. Below are details. Would appreciate feedback, thoughts and your suggestions!

- Did not display any symptoms associated with a liver shunt until age 3/4.

- Has had six episodes total (two last year and four this year).

- Episode consists of drunkenness type walking, shaking (probably due to fear) and lasts for 1-3 minutes. No other symptoms associated with Liver Shunt present, ever. After the 1-3 minute episode, he's back to hyper and playful self.

- Episodes always occur within 30 minutes of eating (our nightly schedule is dinner then walk). Only one episode occurred out of this schedule. One recent episode occurred after breakfast.

Gryffin eats Royal Canin Yorkie Adult with a little boiled chicken breast mixed in. He's also had two bouts of severe gastritis in his life--bloodwork done during those times and no abnormal liver levels. Otherwise, Gryffin is very healthy and receives walks and play time every day.

Anyone have similar issues? Thoughts? I am nervous about the liver shunt but since most dogs display symptoms at puppy-age and he's only displayed the one symptom in the past two years, I sort of think it's hypo/hyperglycemia.

Appreciate your help
