I would also go down the desensitisation route has it would be better in the long run, yorkies need a lot of grooming and he can't have a sedative every time . I groom both of mine myself , it does take time and we don't use clippers but keep long coats so lots of rewards when brushing. Hope you find the right solution for your little one.
