Most yorkies had short legs and square, cobby bodies going way back. Around the 90’s, some breeders began breeding for longer legs in order to have a longer floor-length coat.
My yorkie has legs somewhere in between, but my first had the short legs and cobby body I prefer as a more “pure” look, in the sense of how they looked originally.
It makes them appear even cuter, in my opinion ... however, in this day and age, it’s more about a healthy dog with the longest life span.
My first yorkie lived to be 17 1/2; that’s what matters most to me. |
