My 2y/o Male yorkie does not like to be groomed. He had a bad experience with a groomer at a young age and it has traumatize him. He's afraid of the scissors, the clippers, but he will let them bathe him. The scissors and clippers makes him very angry and he gets defensive and will bite. So the vet prescribed him Xanax, I've tried melatonin, and this makes him very hyper. So he had to be sedated, totally put to sleep to be groomed. Why does sedatives make him hyper??? And what can I do to calm him?
