Bon Bon had 6 retained baby teeth pulled when he was fixed. The vet had noted 4 on first exam, but when he wasn't squirming around and was anesthetized, she searched and found two more. Now, at 14 months old, they have identified that he has more than the regular set of teeth. Last week he lost a baby molar tooth right before we took him in to be checked about the possibly broken one. In short, his mouth is a mess. If there are additional baby teeth underneath the gum line, x-rays are the only way to find them without slicing his mouth apart.

On a positive note, the vet and vet techs complimented us on how well Bon Bon dealt with having his mouth examined. All my efforts on training him to tolerate toothbrushing paid off when it was important.

Okay, I understand. Bon Bon has abnormal extra sets of teeth. X-Rays make sense.
