Default Kidney Failure and Struggling Liver

Hello, it's been a long time since I posted here. My partner and I have been going through a tough time, he has been seriously ill and we have also moved house.

Anyway, a week ago Lucy was diagnosed with acute kidney failure and a struggling liver. Her blood test results were way out of range. The vet didn't seem to want to give her anything. She didn't want to eat or drink but wasn't in pain. I didn't feel I should put her to sleep straight away so the vet advised sub q fluids for three days and kidney care food.

Lucy wasn't happy getting the sub q fluids and was struggling very much so the next day I got a vet to come home last Friday and give her some fluids and show us how to do it. As soon as she saw him she got out of her bed, put both her paws on his knees as though to greet him.

Since then she has continued to improve and is almost her normal happy self, but we have not been able to give her the fluids as she starts struggling, she hates it. She does drink on her own now, she doesn't like the kidney care food but eats some of it. She's always found in the kitchen when she smells food though. Her stools are normal now but they were black and tarry at first. She was also diagnosed with an enlarged heart three years ago. I don't know how old she is as she was a rescued Yorkie but she is quite old, she has cataracts and is missing a lot of her teeth.

Another thing she likes doing is eating her poop, I'm really careful she doesn't do it but sometimes she gets away with it - is it possible that something like that could contribute to a kidney problem?

Any advice about getting to eat more and administering the sub q fluids would highly be appreciated. I know that I shouldn't expect her to live much longer but she is a fighter and I want to give her the chance before the time comes when she wants to give up. Thanks, my apologies for the long post.
