I have the same problem. We live in a rural area too, and there are tons of hawks and owls living here. I never let the girls out unless I am out there with them, and I have seen the hawks come near to scope them out. They haven't swooped down, or I would totally flip. If the girl's aren't on the deck, they are on their lawn ties. No way would I let them run loose.
I am so looking forward to the Yorkie MeetUp in April so I can see how they act running loose on the ground in the enclosure! They probably won't know what to do! Wosie got about 10 minutes of it the other night, and she wouldn't let me catch her, lol!
