Has anyone else that has had dental work done on their dogs been prescribed a antibiotic to be taken before and after dental procedure? My Lola was prescribed Amoxicillin/Clavamox 125 mg. Was supposed to take two a day for three days before procedure. After second day (4 pills) she got very sick; throwing up and stopped eating. We had to cancel dental work for now. After a couple of days and antibiotic getting out of her system she's back to normal. Now I'm told that antibiotics are used only because during the dental procedure there's a lot of bacteria present because of the cleaning or pulling. Is everyone prescribed antibiotics for before and after the dental procedure?
