Default Lola Dental

I've scheduled what sounds like a "major" dental for my 10 yr. old Yorkie Lola. I took her for a pre exam and the vet said it looks like she'll have to pull quite a few teeth. She also mentioned that in a Yorkie she doesn't like to pull a lot of teeth from the bottom because the more teeth you pull from the bottom it weakens the jaw bone which could lead to a broken or a shattered jaw if they bite into something hard. Her thinking is that she would never pull all the teeth from the bottom jaw even if she has to leave some "suspect" teeth. Has anyone been told of that thinking by their vet? My question to you that have had a lot of teeth pulled is what do you feed your Yorkies? Do you grind the food up for them?
