This is so true. We managed to potty train our Mike only with 100% supervision (I'm at home with him most of the time) and lots and lots of praise and treats for peeing and potty on the pad. He is 16 weeks today. In the beginning we had a large pad in every corner of the room&hallway where he is free to be during the day. Also 1 pad in the pen for the night. So anytime he wanted to go there was a pad in close proximity. Then I removed the pads one by one and put a throw pillow or his blanket on that spot for a few days so he didn't want to potty there. Home looked terrible for a month with all these pads around. Now we are down to 1/2 pad in the hallway and 1/2 pad in his pen. Before he was trained I also washed the floors frequently with water+white vinegar to clean the urine smell. I believe more pads and more time in the pen will be good for training your pup. Hope this helps.
