Yeah we also don't use his playpen for punishment because at night we want him to sleep through the night and feel in a safe place. Also by the amount of "good boy" and "good puppy" I say in a day it's around 80% reward for good behaviour and 20% "leave it"



so no punishment really. So far it's been working good. At least we totally managed the mouthing/biting and potty this way.
