My boy has grade 3/4 in both knees, never had surgery. I spoke to many vets when I first got him (he's had this problem for 9 years) and the consensus was there is no guarantee. A slip, a fall, and the knee caps can slip right out.

I can't tell you what to do, as my boy has never been bothered by his LP. He's had a full life of play and joy, even with LP.
