Default Discipline and Doody

Freya has only gone out a few times. And I found a flea on her the last time so I'm waiting until get goes to the vet--first appointment next Wednesday--and get her on a preventative before I take her back out. So she uses a pad that her previous owner had her using. But she still has accidents off it. I stepped in one such accident yesterday LOL. Anyway, my cousin says I should "rub her nose in it." I said no. I don't think that's a good idea. We had a small exchange.

"Then all I can say is allow your dog to rule you and not the other way around! No I'm not for beating my child! But I am for teaching them discipline and their is a difference! You are the adult not the dog! If you don't train it, then that dog will run all over you and you will just continue to clean up after her! It's not about how much memory they have, it's about consistency. That's how they learn. Doing the same thing over and over until they get it."

"It doesn't matter that you don't catch her in the act. The pee puddle or poop pile has her scent, she will know that smell, even if you don't rub her nose in it, you still need to hold her next to it so she can see it and tell her that's a no no"
