I cannot leave him in the crate for 6+ hrs. And if I leave him out, it just encourages him to pee all over. I eventually would like to have him puppy pad trained and then when he is able to do stairs, I was hoping to bell train him. Has anything been successful with that? Welcome to YT and congrats on your new baby. When I had puppies I worked full time, I confined my puppies to a small gated area with their bed, food, water, toys, and pee pads. As KatysMom suggested, Xpens are ideal for containing puppies for long periods of time, like for working moms. There is enough room for their bed, food, water, toys and pee pads, and keeps the puppy away from chewing house furnishings and tings that can harm him. You have no choice now but to pad train him, no going outside until he has had all his vaccines. Then you can start training him to do his business outdoors. Speak to your vet regarding the right age to get him neutered, this I believe is usually 6 to 8 months old. It should be done at the age your vet advises, it will help in not leg hiking in the house. I have a male rescue, a surrender, I have all his medical papers, he is my first male dog, my last 4 all now passed were girls. My boy was spayed at an early age, he does not lift his leg to pee, he squats, it's so cute lol. Once they start hiking their leg it becomes a habit, if left to long he may not stop, reason why it is important to neuter when your vet advises. I am sure other members will chime in with their suggestions and experiences.
