Hey Chick,
I just wanted to say that I was a sailor for almost 5 years, I just got out 6 months ago, my hubby is still in the Navy. We have to look out for each other!
I think that if you don't have the right "feeling" about the person then don't go for it. Obviously you don't have the right feeling. I think a GOOD breeder would take the time to answer all of your questions and make you feel totally comfortable. A good breeder would ask you just as many questions as you asked (besides if you're paying with VISA or MASTERCARD). A good breeder wouldn't mind phone calls, even maybe some in the middle of the night in case of an emergency with the puppy. I think that if you're going to be paying that much money for a yorkie you should get peace of mind.
I live in Cali where yorkies go for about 3 times more than other places. I really recommend people not to buy puppies off of the internet sight unseen. Since you have 3 kids I think you should have the kids meet the puppy first. Some puppies are especially skittish around children, some are more outgoing. It would be good for you to pick the one that fits well with your family. You can't do that from a picture! I recommend going to the breeding facility yourself to develop your own opinion. I don't believe in brokers because the dogs can come from backyard breeders or puppy mills, IMO a breeder who cares about their dogs will evaluate the potential homes themselves.
Just be careful. There are more bad breeders than good breeders out there. But I think you've come to a great place by finding yorkietalk. We have some fabulous breeders here. I really believe in intuition. I think that when you find your dog you will know it! Sorry if I've offended anyone, but these are just my opinions and I hope they help someone out! |
