You need to deinstall and reinstall your devices. Open Device Manager. First I would do the cd-rom. Look on the list for it. right click it and go to properties and see what it says under device status. try to click on troubleshoot. If that doesn't work, deinstall and reinstall by doing the following:

Open Device Manager.
Double-click the type of device that you want to reinstall.
Right-click the specific device you want, and then click Uninstall.
In the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK.
To reinstall the device, on the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes.
Follow the instructions on the screen.

after you have done that with the cd rom do your hd next
