My girl thankfully just had her first cleaning at age 8, no problems! But she is only 1/2 yorkie. Her boyfriend (yorkie) just had his also at age 8 and lost at least 8-12 teeth! The vet told them that several of them were loose enough that if he had been a chewer or played tug of war ( he didn't do much of either)they probably would have come out on their own...Soooo, just suggesting you start playing tug of war, but not so hard that you hurt anything, but maybe it will save a few $ if there is less work to be done. Please don't neglect it though, they can get infections that get into their bloodstream and we all know how toothaches feel. Our babies just can't tell us that they are in pain until it is so bad that it's a real problem.
