What do you mean when you write, "She was registered?"
A breeder will often register the litter. When the litter is registered, the breeder becomes the pup's owner of record. As a second step, then, the buyer becomes registered as the owner of record. (There may be more technical terms.)
In my case, the breeder had registered the litter. She provided us all the litter registration information so that we could complete our registration of the pup online.
Dutch's breeder provided a form that quite a few details including the litter registration number and a "pin."
The form to which I am referring will indicate whether the pup registration is to be "Limited."
The online registration process is pretty straight forward, but we did have some questions and exchanged texts with the breeder while we were filling out the form.

Hope this helps. |
Exactly. This is what we went through when we registered Bella. The breeder had her registered (before we bought her) at AKC, and then the breeder filled out a form for transfer of ownership/registration, and I went online and entered the info provided, and voilą! It took only about 15 minutes to do this online, and it cost something on the order of $30. If I recall correctly, AKC processed her registration, and then sent me an email giving me the link where I could download and print her registration certificate.
