Breeding There are two schools of thought on breeding. (1) States that you should let the girl rest between litters. (2) I've read from a well known VET that an active uterus is a healthy uterus. The chances of a dog getting pyometra or other reproductive disease increase when not bred. If girl's weight and emotional state is good and healthy, breed each cycle for a short time and spay upon her retirement.
I tend to agree with the second opinion; my girls have a short breeding career and then are spayed. |
