Have you thought about a rescue? We bought Max and Sasha and thought we were getting a good deal on both. I think we paid $800 for Max and $1000 for Sasha. Being uninformed as we were, we thought we got lucky with the person we bought from. Since then we have spent at least 3 times that amount on vet bills. While I would not give up either one of my furbabies for a million dollars I would never go back or recommend the person we bought from. Back yard breeder, Greeder, choose whatever you want to call them but all they care about is pumping out litters and making money. A good breeder will never mate dogs that have known genetic defects (luxating patella, Legg-Perthes, kidney or liver issues, etc). You may spend more on the front end but finding a good breeder will save you in the long run. Good luck in your search from a fellow Michigander!
