Your vet can/should help you determine and maintain the best weight for your dogs' particular frames. Fabian, although a purebred, is very long with stubby legs. Definitely not a show dog, but a well-loved family pet. We walk and hike with him a lot so he's packed with muscle. At about 12" long, he's approx. 9.5 pounds and passes the "ribs" test. (Probably one of the largest "baby-faced" Yorkies out there...<g>) He won't be bred, but he'll get lots of kisses and hugs from us for the rest of his life.
