Default ticks and hiking

Since retiring, I have discovered a new hobby that is slowly turning into a passion......hiking. I absolutely love it. I've always like hiking and would go for little short hikes every now and then. Now that I have the time, I find that I am hiking several times a week and on a mission to hike all of the trails in my state.....Delaware. Not all at once of course but, over the next few years. Gotta pace myself as retirement will hopefully be pretty long and I don't want to do everything in the first few years..... It's not a lot of trails however we border Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I plan on hitting those as well.

Of course Duchess loves to hike too. Before I go hiking I been using Deep Woods on myself which has been working for me so far in keeping the ticks and bugs away. Duchess is on Frontline Plus but it doesn't appear to be stopping the ticks or does it? After each hike I checked her thoroughly before coming into the house as I also have a cat who is on revolution. She always have several ticks on her.

Is there something I can use to prevent the ticks from jumping on her or do they just jump on her and Frontline Plus eventually kills them. If not, what can I use to prevent ticks from jumping on my baby. She loves hiking and a lot of times I hike alone and she is my only company. She is like a kid in the candy store.......she gets so excited when we go on our hikes. There are so many woodland creatures that she would love to get her paws on if she wasn't leashed. Deer jumping out of no where in front of us, frogs all along the trail, you name it, she tries to chase it. So not taking her hiking with me would most certainly not be as enjoyable but I also don't want to risk her getting lyme disease as well by taking her.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would love it if there are any natural remedies.

Thanks
