That is often the problem with PLN...if people don't do routine tests on their pups and only rely on symptoms of illness to take a pup to the vet, it can be deadly. PLN is sneaky and if there are symptoms, it is usually too late.

As for vets and UT I have to say there are quite a few who don't know about Tobias either. Or Willard at A&M. Hard to understand, but it does happen if they don't stay up to date on the latest vet news. Happens in any profession as you know.
Oh, but let me add this: any vet who does not recognize protein in urine as an issue is concerning. I don't know that this is true with this vet .... waiting to hear from the OP about whether or not it was discussed.
