He has a young wife and baby and the wife is super nervous about living out in the country. I do not condone anything that happened. He doesn’t either. He realizes how horrific this is. I honestly think this has caused some issues with him and his wife. I just understand his feeling of needed protection when he’s gone. He works night shift and wife and baby are left alone. She is so anxious that she won’t even answer her door for us. We had gone over and knocked one day to give her some things that had blown into our yard from a storm. She didn’t answer the door and called him to come home. He, by the way, would be the person I would call for animal control.

I appreciate everyone’s concerns. Keep crossing your fingers that he comes out of this. The vet mentioned possible brain damage. She said his eyes were bloodshot when we brought him in Sunday. I didn’t even notice I was so focused on all the blood he lost. I am hoping she is wrong and he’s just depressed. But he looks completely lost. He finally pooped last night. Yeah!!!!
Sorry, I didn't see this update when I made my last post. I'm glad the neighbor's dog is gone--hopefully for good. Since you're in a small settlement in the middle of the countryside, maybe there's nothing more that you can or want to do about litigating this, and that's okay. But if the dog shows up again and it's not on a leash, please speak with the neighbor about this again. In the meantime, keep an eagle eye on Barney when you have him outside.
