When you're out in the yard, why not bring squeaky toys out there with you -- squeak them to get their attention, then throw them so they can go "hunt" them.
Because our yard doesn't have a run yet and it's wayy too big for me to feel comfortable leaving her off leash even while being there. As for not eating she just doesn't like to eat the same stuff constantly. So I got her some freshpet. Some weird giant sausage in the frozen food isle in petstores. She eats more eagerly now. I keep trying to find liver flavored things though to add to her food.
