Separately, one or more comments above mention state laws concerning the separation of pups from their mamas. Located this 2017 article by Rebecca F. Wisch for Michigan State University College of Law, "Table of State Laws Concerning Minimum Age for Sale of Puppies," on Animal Legal & Historical Center.
"Approximately twenty-five states have laws or administrative regulations that state how old a puppy must be before it is offered for sale or adopted out to an owner."
Kentucky does not appear to be among the states that has a restriction. See the chart at the bottom of the article--it lists Kentucky, but there were no requirements summarized.
