Giving pills and powder ? on what I'm using- nervous about it. It's two weeks since Bells was in the hospital. Giving the pills and powder is a challenge. Especially as I'm worried it's too much extra food and stuff.
Denamarin & Pepcid in the a.m. for the Pancreatitis, 1st Melatonin for Cushings. I've used the Applegate Organic, no fat, no nitrates, no antibiotic for this. Tear off enough to cover pill and 3 small pieces..size of chicklet. Give her plain first, pills piece second and 2 plain really quickly.
Nighttime is another Melatonin and 1/4 tsp of flaxseed for the Cushings. First night I didn't have the Melatonin yet but put flaxseed powder into 1/4 tsp of lowfat vanilla yogurt and she licked it up. Tonight- she walked away.
So wrapped Melantonin in a portion of a Greenies Pill Popper, tore off whatever didn't cover, took three small pieces from that, threw the rest away and did the 4 piece fake out thing. It was harder than the turkey to accomplish. Put the powder in about 1/4-1/2 tsp of beef baby food ( 1g fat per serving which is the entire small jar), She licked it off the spoon. Wouldn't take the chicken type, though.
So, my question is this...is this ok? Can we use the Greenies Pill things with pancreatitis? She's only eating the Royal Canin Low fat food...5 or 6 spponfuls three times a day. I don't want to cause another attack.
Thanks in advance. |
