I'm so happy for you and your family. Thank you for opening your heart to a yorkie in need. What are you going to call her? If she is being spayed today, just maybe she'll be slow for a day or two.

I'd ask the vet for specifics. Roughly speaking, I understand that kennel cough is often accompanied by some underlying virus. Perhaps they did some lab work--especially since they performed surgery.
