I've tried letting my girl have longer hair before and she developed skin issues (we are in the south, so there's tons of allergens and whatnot's). I always keep her hair in either a puppy cut (no longer than an inch or so during winter/cooler seasons) or mostly buzzed down, where her hair would look like a "short haired smooth coat". She's a bit overweight so she gets hot easier, and she is a no fuss kind of dog. she loves to be pampered but does not care to look pampered
