I feed what the vet recommends. I have always used prescription foods ... most didn't like the Hill's KD so I opted for Purina NF.
I did home cook for one who had pancreatitis as well and the diets were not meeting his needs. I consulted with a vet nutritionist and had the diet formulated.
You can get a free home cooked diet at the following website. It is run by a vet nutritionist. You do need your vet's approval, but they will ask for the information and fax a form to your vet so he/she can sign and return. Then, you can pick the foods you want to cook or that your pup will like and the diet will be formulated for him. You do need to purchase the supplement, but you always need to do that with home cooked diets. The jar is around $50 but lasts for about 2 - 3 months.
