Some dogs/animals are just never amenable to crate training due to that feeling of being confined/trapped in a small space. In addition, they're not used to being totally all alone at all; they're used to being curled up in a cozy little pack with their Mama and littermates. When ours were pups, we used an Iris Pen instead of crates and found those worked much better.
